The Rite Review.

When The Rite was released it got slated by critics and yet The Last Exorcism got praised. Well I liked The Rite better as you are about to find out in this review.

The Rite follows a Young Priest in training who is losing his faith and is sent to the vatican to join a program for future exorcists. During his training he is sent to father lucas who has a dark secret.

The film maintains Suspense while also keeping shocks short and snappy. Great acting from Colin O'Donoghue (The Tudors), Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs), Alice Braga (Predators) and Rutger Hauer (Sin City).

A good thrill ride and definitley one to watch. ****

DOGHOUSE REVIEW

A few years ago; Shaun of the Dead launched brittish comedy films into the gates of hollywood after a long delay. While Shaun of the dead made Zombie films funny; Another film made just a few years ago also makes the zombie genre extremely funny but with a big difference.

Doghouse is about a bloke called Vince who is currently going through a divorce who gets dragged off by his friends who are also in the doghouse to a remote village called Moodley in order to get wasted but end up fighting for their lives when they find out the military has spread a virus that turns the women into zombies or as stated in the film "P****d off, man hating, feminist, Cannibals."

The Film has very funny dialogue and great make up effects for zombies such as The Bride and Bubbles aswell as great casting and great acting from the main leads; Stephen Graham (This is England), Danny Dyer (Severance) and Noel Clarke (4.3.2.1.).
All in all, Brilliant film and definitley worth a watch.****

***** = 5

That is my score ratings so everyone knows.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 Review.

Based on True events, In 1970's Texas. A local police department went to the house of ruthless serial killer ED Gein. What they discovered was much worse when they found bits of hair on the ceilings and fingernails scratched into the walls. They found many victims claiming the house as the sight of a massacre. They captured the infamous killer although thanks to him the world has three iconic characters; Norman Bates, Buffalo Bill and Thomas Hewitt aka Leatherface.

This story focuses on the killer Leatherface and his infamous family of cannibals. In 1973, A group of twenty somethings are travelling across Texas to get to Mexico until everything goes wrong when they pick up a hitchiker who eventually blows her brains out with a handgun. Their trip gets worse however when they go searching for the sheriff but instead run into Leatherface and his Chainsaw eventually leading to them becoming family food.

The film features many gory scenes but also contains a few shocks in which you would probably jump. The film has also got a great cast with Jessica Biel (Blade Trinity) and Mike Vogel (Cloverfield) and many many more. All in all A great film and a great remake. Definitley worth a watch.***

Paranormal Activity 2 Review

Back in 2009, Paramount Pictures made a low budget film called Paranormal Activity which told the story of a young couple who find out they have a poltergeist in their new home. It was shown for a limited run in america where people had to vote on whether or not it was shown in cinemas everywhere for a longer run. leading to the eventual release of it in cinemas all over the world and also leading to the annual halloween horror film taking the crown from the Saw franchise.

Paranormal Activity 2 is more a prequel than sequel however in the last 5 minutes of the film it shows you what happened after the events of the first film. It tells the story of Katie's sister Christine and her family who move into a new house and in the morning they find their house trashed. Thinking it is a thief they get security cameras installed but find out something much worse.

I found it pretty interesting the way the camera switched between birds eye view with the security cameras and first person with the camcorder and it was great the way the poltergeist attacked during the day instead of only at night although this one provides less shocks and cliffhangers. Also great to see fresh new faces instead of just two people.

All in all good sequel but in my personal opinion they should finish it with paranormal activity 3 this year as it will never be able to achieve as many sequels as Saw and be successful. ***

127 HOURS Review.

When I went to see 127 Hours; I didn't know much about the film except it was based on a true story that occured in 2003 and that it was directed by Danny Boyle. After hearing that Danny Boyle would be doing a true story I was excited to the limit as I am personally a big fan of Danny boyle's previous films.

If any of you didn't know 127 Hours is based upon a true event which took place in april 2003 when an american climber called Aron Ralston got his arm jammed between a boulder and a wall in which he was stuck for 5 days trying to survive nature while keeping his sanity.

If you actually watch the movie; you can see how well Danny Boyle creates tension as to what is going to happen next and it was also great how as each day went by he became more insane and started having a lot more hallucinations. It was also a great film due to the fact that it shows you what he did to survive 5 days such as drinking his own urine and eventually even cutting of his own arm to escape.

It also has a running joke in the film featuring Scooby-doo but the film is mainly a serious thriller that captivates you and always has you on the edge of your seat. As for James Franco who actually plays Aron Ralston in the film; He plays an amazing role and he really captures the emotion of what a person would do in this situation and in this case Aron Ralston in which James Franco has stuck close to the real event that Aron Ralston himself described in his book in which the film is adapted.

As I said earlier this piece of cinematic art is directed by brittish director Danny Boyle who in the past has done films such as 28 days later and the fantastic Trainspotting and many other greats and if you know Danny Boyles work well and you enjoy his films then you won't be disappointed as this film stays close to his other pieces of cinematic art.

All in all, A great movie that will have you on the edge of your seat throughout and brilliant acting from Franco aswell as great direction from Boyle. Great use of special effects to display the harsh weather conditions and the hallucinations and great running joke aswell as great thrills. I definitley recommend watching this film and I do hope it gets credited at the oscars. Rating: *****.
