Dark Shadows Review

As many people may know, One of the greatest actor - director team ups within Hollywood is Johnny Depp and Tim Burton and together they have given us some of the greatest movies to grace Hollywood including Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd, Sleepy Hollow and Ed Wood. So when it was reported that they would be collaborating again on a new film; Me and many other Burton fans were excited to see what was coming.

Dark Shadows is based off the 1966 gothic soap opera of the same name and it tells the tale of Barnabas Collins, A wealthy young playboy who after being cursed by a Witch is turned into a Vampire and forced to be buried alive for eternity However when he is accidentally dug out 200 years later, Barnabas returns to the family home to realize that his familys buisness and name has also fallen foul to the curse and decides to fight back to prove their name actually means something However when he finds out that the Witch who cursed the Collins family is their rival, Barnabas realizes that the fight for his family's name has just become more personal.

Whatever you may hear from critics, Ignore them and watch it for yourself. Dark Shadows contains a strong amount of gore but between gory and mild Horror scenes there is plenty of the Comic relief moments that fans of Burton have come to expect. As usual the Special effects definitley support the bizarre and wacky ideas of Tim Burtons Imagination and the score by Danny Elfman is fantastic. Of course the film wouldn't be anything without it's fantastic cast that includes Johnny Depp (Sleepy Hollow), Michelle Pfeiffer (Batman Returns), Helena Bonham Carter (Alice in Wonderland 2010), Eva Green (Casino Royale), Jackie Earl Haley (Watchmen), Chloe Mortez (Kick-Ass) and Christopher Lee (The Wicker Man) aswell as a Cameo appearance from Rock Star Alice Cooper. All in all, Everything about this film is very enjoyable and it definitley has that wacky dark tone that most of Burton's films contains and personally it isn't as Camp as all the adverts make it out to be. A Definite must see and look out for Tim Burton's Other two films: Frankenweenie and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter later this year (Keep an eye out for reviews).****

American Pie: Reunion Review

As everybody probably knows by now, It has been a while since there has been an American Pie film released (The Spin-offs don't count) but finally the old cast return for the fantastic return of one of the greatest comedy franchises of all time and it comes in the form of American Pie Reunion.

Set a few years after American Pie: The Wedding, The entire gang get ready to return for their high school reunion however their lives have changed over the past few years. Jim and Michelle now have a child, Oz is a huge celebrity, Kevin is the perfect example of a housewife, Finch has mysteriously disappeared and Stifler is working for a big company but sure enough; The high-school reunion results in new High-School high jinks as the group starts to learn that although they are getting older, The fun doesn't have to stop.

This film is probably one of the funniest entries in the franchise mainly because the original cast returns. The film's cast includes Jason Biggs (Jay and Silent Bob), Alyson Hannigan (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Chris Klein (Election), Thomas Ian Nicholas (Halloween Ressurection), Tara Reid (The Big Lebowski), Sean William Scott (Evolution), Mena Suvari (Day of the Dead 2008), Eddie Kaye Thomas (Harold and Kumar) and Eugene Levy (Splash) aswell as cameo appearances from Neil Patrick Harris (The Smurfs) and Rebecca DeMornay (Risky Business). The film also contains the crude humour you'd expect from the American Pie films but it also contains new jokes including a leather sex outfit and an Ice box. All in all, This film is Rude, Full of Bad Language and Scenes which can be disgusting for people who don't expect them within a comedy and That is the very reason that this film definitley deserves to be classed as a true sequel to American Pie 3 and one of the best comedy films in years. Definitley worth your money.*****

The Cabin in The Woods Review

With The Avengers hitting Cinemas in America this week and with the film already out here in Britain. People might just watch this film without watching the other film from the mind of Joss Whedon (Firefly) which takes the common knowledge of a Slasher film and totally spins it out of control. This mini Masterpiece is what is referred to as The Cabin in The Woods. A film that has gathered praise from film critics American and Brittish alike.

The film revolves around 5 Twenty Somethings who are manipulated into spending the weekend at a remote cabin in the middle of the Woods. What they don't know is that a team of people are watching their every move to decide on what they send to kill them. As a Zombie Redneck Torture Family rise, Bodies begin to fall but can the remaining Survivors discover the secrets hidden from them and most importantly why?

The film is a treat in many aspects of the word and features more monsters than you could shake a stick at. Monsters within the film include Werewolfs, Spiders, Rats, Snakes, Bats, Zombies, Ghosts, Clowns and there if you look closely you can even see the twins out of The Shining and a similar box to the Puzzle box from the Hellraiser Franchise aswell as many more monsters (Some from other Horror Films). The Film has a fantastic cast including Kristen Connelly (The Happening), Chris Hemsworth (Avengers Assemble), Fran Kranz (Donnie Darko), Jesse Williams (Brooklyn's Finest), Richard Jenkins (Let Me In), Bradley Whitford (Billy Madison), Amy Acker (Catch me if you can) and a Cameo appearance by the queen of Sci-Fi Sigourney Weaver (Alien). The film also features a song during the credits that really feels right for that movie, The Song is "Last" by Nine Inch Nails. All in all, The Cabin in The Woods is a fun and silly film which is extremely enjoyable. Personally though you like it or you don't. Watch it and decide and comment your thoughts on the film. ****

Avengers Assemble Review

Beginning in 2008, Marvel decided to release a set of films in a run up to an eventual team up movie. Those films were Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, THOR & Captain America: The First Avenger. All Movies were critical success stories and so this can only mean one thing. The Team up movie everybody has been waiting for has finally arrived. Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) Reunites the cast of these films for the big screen phenomenon known only as The Avengers.

When a military operation goes wrong after the God of Mischief, Loki steals a powerful weapon known only as the Teraract. Nick Fury; Commander of S.H.I.E.L.D. decides to re open a canned military operation known only as The Avengers Initiative in which should the need arise in which the entire world is threatened, These Extroadinary people can fight the battles that ordinary people can't. With the world at stake, He gathers Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow to form the Avengers aswell as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Maria Hill and Phil Coulson to help in the fight against Loki's Extraterrestrial army which could very well mean the end of Humanity.

This film is a masterpiece and definitley lives up to expectations as it captures everything including action, Story, Character Development and Lots of Humour. The film also stars an amazing cast consisting of Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes), Chris Evans (Fantastic 4), Chris Hemsworth (THOR), Scarlett Johansson (Iron Man 2), Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker), Mark Ruffalo (Zodiac), Samuel L. Jackson (Snakes on a Plane), Clark Gregg (Iron Man), Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) and Tom Hiddleston (THOR) aswell as Cameo appearances by Stellan Skarsgaard (The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo) and Gwyneth Paltrow (Shallow Hal) aswell as Paul Bettany (Priest) as the voice of JARVIS. The film features some of the greatest special effects in a film ever and totally kicks ass. All in all, Avengers Assemble is definitley a must see and you would quite literally be a fool to miss it.*****

THOR Review

It is Hard to think that it has been 5 years since the Run- Up to The Avengers began. Back in 2008, Iron Man started the Hints to a film about The Avengers which has now become known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The films within this Franchise are Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, THOR and Captain America: The First Avenger and With The Avengers set to come out in a few weeks, I thought it was time to revisit these films.

THOR is based off the Marvel comics character and Norse god of Thunder. The Film follows the Young and Arrogant Warrior and God of Thunder; Thor. When Thor puts the realm of Asgard at risk he is banished by Odin to Earth where he meets and falls for Scientist; Jane Foster. Running into problems along the way such as S.H.I.E.L.D., Betrayal and Possibly the End of the Humans, Frost Giants and Asgardians. Thor must learn what it means to be a true king of Asgard and a true warrior

THOR is one of Marvel's greatest films since Iron Man and has probably the best special effects used in a superhero flick. The cast is equally brilliant which consists of Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek), Natalie Portman (Black Swan), Anthony Hopkins (The Rite), Tom Hiddleston (War Horse), Idris Elba (The Losers) and Clark Gregg (Iron Man) aswell as cameo appearances by Jeremy Renner (Mission Impossible 4) and Samuel L. Jackson (Die Hard 3). Another thing you should look out for is the song during the credits which is really good called "Walk" by The Foo Fighters. All in all, THOR is the perfect superhero film that has the right mix of Action, Witty Humour and Romance and is a must see for all ages.*****
